Vrindavan based NGO helping UN to attain the SDGs
The Millenium Summit was an important and significant summit held in the United Nations in 2000. The main purpose of this important summit was to address the key challenges of the world. This summit was attended by more than 190 heads of states and hundreds of thousands of Bureaucrats to comprehend and evaluate the minutes of meetings. This summit resulted in the formation of Millenium Development Goals which were 8 goals. These goals were time-specific and measurable so it was actionable too.
The timeline to achieve these goals was 2015, in which these MDGs got rep-laced by the SDGs. These SDGs aka Sustainable Development Goals are more specific and precisely defined in a way to address the minute key challenges.
These goals were specified to each nation and cumulatively these goals are known as Agenda 2030. The governments are doing their bit but as a community, we must witness the significant changes and contribute to these changes as well.
In India, a Non-Profit Organization, has not just inculcated the idea of Agenda 2030 but contributed like anything. VatsalyaGram is the name of the organization and it is conceptualized on the idea of the small village where people live with love, care, and compassion for each other.
VatsalyaGram is doing its part to save humanity by adding values to these Sustainable Development Goals as mentioned below:-
Goal 2:- Zero Hunger:- The second goal of these SDGs is to address the issue of Hunger to the starving population. This village of love is feeding hundreds of children and destitute women who are abandoned and have no option to look at. The meal is full of nutrients and makes sure to feed every single individual who is inside the campus.Goal
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being: — The VatsalyaGram is a pious place where spirituality meets nature. The entire campus is full of greenery and for the well-being and health, there is a hospital and ayurvedic center inside the campus that looks after the people from nearby communities. For the sake of others, any kind of smoking or alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited.
Goal 4: Quality Education: — Quality Education is a fundamental right of every individual and this serene place is having two schools inside the campus.
One school is dedicated to the marginalized community people who are deprived of the basic fundamental amenities. To address this issue, VatsalyaGram offers free primary education to these children with free stationary, uniform, and books along with mid-day meals.
Another school is a state-of-the-art kind of institution where Robotics and Poetry go hand in hand. The students learn the skills desired by the industry to bridge the gap between the talent pool and the job roles. The girls get equal opportunities in the school band as well as Horse Riding in NCC too. The cultural exchange program of the school with a US-based school is also giving it an edge to learn the process of adaptation and adjustment. That is how Samvid Gurukulam is known as one of the best boarding cum day schools for girls in Uttar Pradesh.
Goal 5: Gender Equality: — Gender Equality is the need of the hour and this is what VatsalyaGram is best at. Sadhvi Didi Maa Ritambhara Ji is the one who is the force behind it. She is the Indian face of women empowerment where she makes the destitute women respect and gets respected by the people. She has instituted programs like Saksham and Udyamita where these women learn the process to earn their bread and butter and make a mark of their own in mainstream society.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation: — Availability and management of clean water and sanitation is the basic requirement to lead a healthy and happy lifestyle. VatsalyaGram comprehends the need for it and is on the same page with the SDGs. For cleanliness, a small unit is set up on the campus by the name Neeramritam which supplies clean water to every unit of the campus.
Sanitation is the area of prime importance in VatsalyaGram and for the same, several people work to maintain the sanitation mark at par.
Looking at these goals’ names as SDGs, it is our actionable duty to make our sustainable contribution to join hands with VatsalyaGram and support the noble initiative taken by Param Pujya Didi Maa Ji. You can volunteer, donate or join this initiative of a great cause.
